Light Equipment

So many things have changed for me in the last years. When I use flash, I currently work with a Profoto Acute 1200R system. It’s small, still not super lightweight and can hold up to three flashes. It’s good for being used in hotel rooms but not so great for being on the road. For this I use an Acute B600… well, to be honest, I only photographed with it once in 7 years. It wasn’ t a good purchase for me as it doesn’t differ enough from my other system and as I have no good control with setting up the light without a setup light.

This means, I will sooner or later rethink my whole equipment and reduce it, so it fits my needs.

I ran into the Profoto B1 system. Off-camera flash without cords, all in one head. No more extra battery and at 3 kg lighter than my current setup. As I only use one flash head most of the time, this doesn’t sound too bad. I am not so convinced by the TTL as I believe in difficult situations it’s easier to control the light manually and not rely on camera data. But I am not a sports shooter anyways.

Then on the other hand I sometimes need continous light for filming purposes. And LED stuff is being developped as well. Just a bit too early to buy, in my believe.

I’ll keep you updated once I have found the perfect gear for my type of work.
